Bathroom Decoration

The bathroom is a room in which we spend a good amount of time in, but it is often an under dressed room. Few accents and white walls make most baths appear like those of a hospital’s. This room is about showering, shaving and relaxing away the day’s stresses in the tub. Why not make this room look and feel more interesting? This article will offer tips that will help add appeal to your bathroom.

Most guests visiting your home will see your bathroom, so remember to make the most of it.   No matter if your bathroom is small or spacious, many things can be done to give the room a new look.

Tips for Small Baths
Do you have a small bathroom that is only large enough for the necessities? You can visually open up space in the room by painting the rooms a light and soft pastel color. Most visible items should be colored in light hues, like shower curtains and towels. If you have any items jutting out from  the walls, or shelves, remove them. The result of this will be straight, clean lines, which will lead to a more spacious look. Brighter lighting and additional mirrors to reflect light should be taken into consideration.

Floors also follow the same rules about being light. Light colored linoleum or ceramic tiles will make the room seem more spacious than before.

Have a Large Bath?
A larger bath provides you with more options. A rich, elegant look, can be given to the room with the use of dramatic color and wall accents. A bathroom looks beautiful with burgundy walls accented with deep hues of blue and green. Keep your shower curtain, towels and other fabrics in coordination with the walls. Framing your vanity mirror with molding will give it extra appeal. Stripes and bold florals fit in well with a spacious bath.

Larger baths can benefit from bold and dramatic floors. Intricate designs on ceramic tile help to add more depth and a rich, warm appeal.

Accents
No matter the size of the bath, depth and interest can be added to the room with pictures. Prints should be kept light colored in a small bathroom, with either metal frames or no frame at all so that things stay light. However, large prints with dramatic and embellished frames will work well in a larger bathroom.

Minimize clutter in small bathrooms. Leave the top of the vanity bare, storing all necessities such as toothpaste, shaving cream and lotions stored underneath. This will help achieve a clean, open look. Plenty of plants, along with color coordinated candles can help make a larger bathroom look beautiful. You can also make the room smell wonderful with candles.

No matter the size of your bath, consider adding patterns to the walls with stencils, or a feather duster to create soft abstract patterns Colors should always be kept light in a small bath though.

Give your bath the attention it deserves! Visitors will be impressed when they see this often frequented room made comfortable and stylish. These tips and ideas will ensure that your bathroom is anything but ordinary and dull!
