Finding a New Look for Your Kitchen on a Budget
Many families have little (if any) extra money due to the recent economic downturn. The kitchen is often the most expensive room in the house to remodel, so what do you do if it’s in desperate need of a facelift? But there are so many things that are affordable that you can either do yourself or have done at a reasonable price. If you’re looking to transform the look of your kitchen without blowing your budget, then here are some suggestions.
- To start with, paint your walls and ceiling. If you want to make a really noticeable difference, consider changing colors. For instance, by going with a soft yellow or pastel peach, you can add color and vibrancy without being overbearing. By painting the baseboards a contrasting color, you can really make the look pop.
- If your cabinets are showing their age, it’s time to fix them up. This type of small touch in a décor can really make a large impact. Check out your local home supply store to find all the different pulls that are now available. Look for pulls with pretty patterns on them to add a touch of color to your décor.
- Give your kitchen a whole new look with new lighting fixtures. If the ones you have right now have been there for years, most likely they are starting to look outdated. Lighting fixtures can save you a lot of money-especially when compared to having to move the electrical box. You want to choose fixtures that are compatible with and will fit in the same place as your current one does.
- Consider updating your windows. Are mini blinds still hanging on all of your kitchen and dining room windows? Think about replacing them with some delicate sheers. If you just happen to prefer blinds, then consider the vertical variety. If you have a more elegant theme in your dining room and kitchen, consider creating your own swags out of satin sheets. When you use a little creativity, your window options are virtually endless.
If you have a little imagination, you can create a unique look that will be the envy of others-especially if you don’t mind painting. When your home reflects your tastes and personality, it becomes your own special place. When you focus on originality, you can create a home that’s uniquely yours.
It’s not difficult to transform the look and feel of your kitchen without breaking your budget. Remember, the kitchen is typically the most frequently used room in the home. You want to create a lookthat family and friends will enjoy in comfort. You’ll be amazed at what a difference a few of these simple tricks can make! You can make your kitchen look as though you spend thousands on it-and no one will be the wiser that it only cost you a few hundred dollars.
