Wooden Garden Shed – How to Make the Best Choice

Wooden garden sheds are a great solution to all the problems you may have with garden storage.

If you discover you garden area has been hampered by unpleasant looking piles of empty plant pots, big bags of compost, seed trays and gardening equipment or if you find yourself having to park your car outside because your garage is full of clutter, junk and odds and ends, then it is time to get a wooden garden shed.

The correct wooden shed will enhance the look of your garden, keep all your equipment safe and dry and if done correctly it will definitely add to the value of your home.

It could also double as a workplace and if needed a nice little place to hang out and have an afternoon cup of coffee!

There are plenty of options when it comes to wooden garden sheds, so how best to make a decision which one will suit you best?

Size is important when it comes to your wooden garden shed.

Firstly consider the size of the wooden shed you will need. Figure out the space that will be filled by all the things you want to store and don’t forget to figure in some extra room to gain access to it safely and easily. There is nothing worse than having to move the ride on lawn mower to get out a rake stored at the very back!

Another consideration that is often skipped over is the size of the door opening. Your wooden garden shed may be large enough to fit your big fancy ride-on mower but that won’t be handy if you can’t get it through the front door.

What is the answer? If you posses big items to put in storage, seek out a shed with either wide sliding doors or double doors, and the capability of a ramp can make the job of push carts, mowers and barrows easier to maneuver inside.

If you want a workspace in your wooden shed like a work bench on one side make sure you plan for enough space and that your roof is high enough so you can stand comfortably. Once you have chosen a size, go for one size bigger if possible. It is a common complaint that wooden garden sheds get too small and you will outgrow yours if you don’t. There are always more items to store in it.
