Black Sect Feng Shui deals in both the mundane as well as the emotional and spiritual. Feng Shui consultants use intuition to assess the flow of chi through a space, and, if we find a home unsuitable, seek ways to remedy problems. We also emphasize the importance of intention when we implement a specific Feng Shui cure.

It is with this intention in mind that it’s important to talk about clearing clutter from a space — and what better time to think about spring cleaning than the start of spring?

Benefits of Reducing Clutter
A clean and uncluttered home makes guests feel welcome and makes its inhabitants comfortable. It’s often easier to think clearly in a neat and organized room — and that includes the desk in your home office.

Clutter represents stagnant, confused chi. It may be difficult to make a decision in a cluttered home, or even to make positive moves toward growth and personal development. Our clutter also has our emotions tied to it. We may not want to let go of it for emotional reasons — and that leads to our feeling “stuck” in our life.

Good Feng Shui is characterized by free-flowing chi — not too fast, and not too slow. If a human being can’t walk across a room because furniture is filling the space with no wide pathways or toys, books, and random clutter blocks the path, the chi can’t flow freely either.

Clutter in Your Attic, Basement or Garage
When we own a home, we tend to place objects we don’t use — or intend to some day throw away — in our attic, garage or basement. Even if we can’t see it, this clutter can weigh us down.

Clutter in the Bedroom, Kitchen and Entryway
Clutter in these three areas is the worst of all when it comes to free-flowing chi and Feng Shui, because these three areas of the home are the most important in Feng Shui. Clutter in the bedroom can prevent a good night’s sleep.

In Feng Shui, the kitchen represents our career success and how others perceive us — getting rid of clutter in this area and always making sure appliances (especially the stove) are clean, can lead to increased wealth and career success.

Our entryway creates a first impression and affects the chi that flows through the rest of the house. If the chi is blocked by clutter at your front door, it can’t move freely through the rest of your home in a positive, life-affirming way.

How to Clear the Clutter
Begin by sorting through your belongings. Does everything serve a purpose? That purpose may simply be that it makes you happy — that’s okay. Objects that don’t serve a practical purpose or bring you joy when you see them should go. Recycle, donate or, if you truly can’t find a use for it and don’t think anyone else can, either, throw it away.

With the remaining objects, find a place for everything and put it there. Keep everyday items in easy to reach places. Store clothes and other objects used seasonally neatly in closets, the attic or garage, where you can find them easily when you need them.

When you’re finished using something, put it back. It really is as simple as that to keep clutter at bay and let chi flow freely through your home.

For more info, go here: Feng Shui Secrets 7 Day FREE Trial.

On Maui there is a photographer who has some of the most beautiful feng-shui photos of Maui waterfalls. These beautiful scenes can be printed on a number of different mediums. These prints come in several different sizes and can be installed on any wall. With the proper lighting and soundtrack, these fine art prints are one of a kind windows to the splendor that is Maui without the wet mess. A couple of years ago a good friend of mine ordered one of these waterfall prints on canvas. When the whole display was designed, she put a blinking light at just the right angle behind the canvas so it showed through, and set up a sound system also behind the print. The whole thing was put together in a small rock alcove so the sound, lights, and waterfall print from Maui combined to look like an actual window into the splendor that is Maui. This photographer has many other different photos of Maui that have been taken over the past 30 years and these photos are of scenes that will never again be seen on Maui.

As Maui has changed, so have the scenery and beaches. These one of a kind views are truly scenes that will never be seen again. Many of the beaches have been fenced from use, and the housing industry continues to creep into the valleys and up the sides of the foothills of Haleakala as well as the West Maui Mountains. Everyone should take a look at the fantastic photos of Maui in order to buy a piece of history for that perfect serene window into Maui’s splendor.

Get these one of a kind fine art prints that not many people really get to see when they visit Maui. Shop early so you can be sure your gifts arrive for the holidays. There are many shots of Maui to be seen and bought.

By Norman T. Brooks

You might have read some of my previous articles on feng shui and the 5-element pagoda. One of my favorite feng shui items, the 5-element pagoda, provides a measure of protection that is truly amazing. For all of those people who wonder what in the world happened to them-what turned their lives upside down all of a sudden-investigating how this pagoda works would be a good idea. In fact, this pagoda might be considered the number ONE item to purchase when moving into a new place.

Perhaps relating some of my personal experiences with this nifty device might aid understanding of those vagrant energies that cause havoc. First of all, energy is and energy moves around; it’s part of life. Whether you call it good or bad energy, vibes, chi, voodoo, or quantum physics, it’s all the same. The trick is to bring lots of good energy in and keep the bad energy out. The masters of feng shui observed and played with these energies and came up with some terrific tools to give us some control over them. In the Flying Star school of thought, certain specific types are given names. There are four auspicious and four inauspicious stars, the worst of which is the #5 Yellow Star of Misfortune, closely followed by the #2 Black Star of Illness. The pagoda of five elements, with its mantra of protection, is the cure (see my previous articles for more information on this).

For those who scoff at the very idea that there could be ‘stars’ causing problems, let me tell you this: I didn’t know anything about those flying stars and they still got me. When I first learned about the little buggers and looked back over the three preceding years, the proof was evident. 2010 has been slated to be a very bad year for the matriarch of the family who resides in a south-west bedroom (uh…that would be me) but my pagoda has been protecting me quite well.

Before the Chinese New Year came, I rearranged my home and paid particular attention to my about-to-be-afflicted bedroom. Placing my 5-element pagoda on a plastic tub in the south-west corner of my south-west bedroom, I retired for the night, blissfully protected. The next morning, shortly after awakening, a distinctive ‘ting’ came from that corner. Knowing that nothing was over there but the pagoda sitting on the plastic tub, I didn’t even turn to look. A few days later, there was a louder ‘ting…TING!” from the same corner. Puzzled, I picked up the pagoda, accidentally shaking it, and heard a mild ‘ting’. In case you just missed the meaning of that, here it is: the crystal inside the pagoda jumped up and hit against the wall of metal, all by itself. No it wasn’t poltergeist action; it means that a jolt of bad energy hit the device hard enough to make that crystal jump.

Although I have been a feng shui practitioner for years, I had never heard of such a thing happening. Since then I have beefed up the protective influences in my home and have replaced the simple pagoda with a much bigger and grander one, called a HoTu 5-element pagoda. That device is a gold-plated work of art created by a true Master of feng shui, to which I have added infusions of frequencies meant to protect one from anything and everything (ancient secrets, meet quantum physics). The results have astounded even me and are definitely something to write about. The first night that HoTu pagoda was placed in my bedroom, on that same plastic tub, there was a racket over in that corner, followed by something going over my head, picking up the top of another protective device as if looking into it, replacing the top with a clunk, and exiting stage left, out the door. It wasn’t a dream, since I wasn’t asleep yet. It was about one week later, shortly after retiring to bed, that through my closed eyes I saw a blinding flash of white light. Opening my eyes in alarm, another blinding flash occurred, followed by a few seconds of flickering white light and a really loud CRACK! in that corner. The rest of the night was quiet.

Examining the crystal within the next day was shocking. The crystal had been pointing right into the corner and was now flipped over, pointing into the bedroom. That crystal was also cracked and had turned from clear and beautiful into almost completely opaque. The only way that makes any kind of sense is by applying the quantum physics of energy movement as considered in feng shui. Knowing what I do about feng shui, I know that I was protected from something big enough to have caused me considerable disaster-if not death. I think I’ll get a couple more of those handy little devices and start an arrangement of them over in that corner!

Most definitions of clutter amount to some version of the following: “A scattered, disorganized, messy collection of things.” But clutter goes beyond jumbled objects lying around our home. In reality, clutter is often present in more subtle forms and if you are not even aware of them, how can you possibly start cleaning them up? Let’s look at a couple of the ways clutter can sneak up on you, the detrimental impact it is likely to have, and how to handle it.

Many professional organizers and feng shui experts have broadened their definition of clutter to extend beyond things like the obvious stacks of papers waiting to be sorted, or that collection of gardening tools in the garage that implodes whenever you remove the one you need. Let’s look at two of these less obvious forms of clutter.

1. Projects that are left unfinished
2. Things not attended to or cared for properly

While these forms of clutter don’t always create a visible mess in our physical surroundings, they always increase our internal clutter by adding to the “background noise” of our mind. We may not even notice it, but mental clutter is a terrible drain on our energy and peace of mind.

Here’s an example of the “unfinished project” clutter. Remember that birdfeeder you were so excited about building earlier in the year? It’s been sitting there waiting to be assembled but by now you have happily moved on to other interests. So now, whenever you pass by this incomplete project, instead of envisioning a White-crowned Sparrow stopping by for lunch, you beat yourself up for your “lack of follow through” or some other form of negative self-talk. Well do yourself a favor and get it out of your house. Donate it or recycle it and you will be preserving your energy for the things that are bringing you joy today!

Now let’s look at clutter in the “not being attended to properly” category. Here’s an example that’s fairly common. You bought some house plants because you enjoy the beauty and fresh greenery they bring into your home. You started out with just a couple but kept adding to your collection and now several are looking pretty droopy. Maybe you don’t really have the space or growing conditions for the wide variety of plants you now own, so they’re all cramped in front of your picture window, getting a bit dusty. You do water them of course, and they are alive, but they’re not thriving. In this case, wouldn’t you and the plants, be better off if you just picked out two or three to keep and made a gift of the others to friends who may have both space and the perfect conditions? Having given them away, rather than a jungle of ailing specimens that just survive, you now have a couple of vibrantly healthy plants, cheerfully growing in a perfect spot in your home. The clutter has been cleared and you have created a miniature oasis of greenery. Sometimes less really is more.

So now we have seen two types of clutter that are a bit outside the narrower, traditional definition, yet have the same negative impact. The remedy in each case requires us to observe how we honestly feel about the items or area in question in the present moment. After that, give yourself permission to take action from that place of awareness. Our goal in removing clutter is to create a space that nurtures and renews us, while allowing energy to flow freely. Removing clutter is an act of kindness for ourselves, and we are all worth the effort.

If you feel the need to make changes within your life and are considering using The Basics of Feng Shui to make that change, then you have made a very sensible decision. The best thing about it is that it requires no equipment or a great amount of expertise in order to gain great benefits from its use.

Many people go about their day to day living and never consider exactly how much their environment plays an influential role within their life. If you seem to be caught up in a rut at home, without even knowing why, it could be clutter bringing negative forces into your life. Clutter is like a dark magnet which draws negative energy from all corners into our homes. By removing it we can not only create more room, we can enhance our mental clarity and feel better about ourselves.

After you have successfully removed all the clutter from your home, which includes under the beds and the bottom of the closets, you are well on your way to creating a much more serene existence. Now would be the time to make sure the home is where only it with natural illumination. In areas where it is not possible to use window lighting, it is advised to use a full-spectrum will light source.

Fresh air can be maintained by open windows or through the use of modern air purifiers. If you would like to use an air purifier, be sure to get one which runs as silent as possible. Ionic air purifiers are a great choice because they run very quietly and will not interfere where silence is necessary. Certain types of plants can also be used to add substantially to the pleasantness of the air.

When you begin studying the ancient art, you’ll also learn about the Ba-Gua, which is basically a feng shui map. The Ba-Gua is an energy map which is used to decide how all the items will reside within the room and which elements will be used. It is especially useful when working toward a specific purpose because the varying parts of the energy map will relate to different parts of life. By manipulating the energy flow, the likelihood of money or love can be increased.

Practitioners of feng shui theory will use five elements which help to balance out the environment. Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Metal objects are used to produce desired outcomes. Each of these five elements have their own characteristics and play a vital role of energy for within the area.

The Chinese are well known for having their own zodiac which is based upon 12 animals which repeat every 12 years. They use these zodiac signs to give astrological readings about each individual born under each sign.

Along with the animals of the zodiac, the five elements are also represented and assigned to each year. So not only can an individual be born under the sign of the Dragon, they can also be born under the element of Wood. It is important to use birth elements when using The Basics of Feng Shui design.

Click Here to get Free Tips on how to improve your life with chinese feng shui and feng shui living.

They say in real estate that location is everything. In Feng Shui, they say that placement is everything. Indeed, the confluence of real estate and Feng Shui suggests that where your house is placed or located determines whether or not you have good Chi.

In terms of location, a house in a good neighborhood, near parks and good schools would normally be considered ideal. However, practitioners of Feng Shui must consider an added element. Where the house is situated in the neighborhood is also important. A bad Feng Shui house location, for example, would be at the end of a T-junction. A good house location would be a house away from a T or Y-junction and seated above sidewalk level.

The flow of Chi is important when considering house location. At the end of a T-junction, a house would bear the brunt of the energy flow. Imagine a blast of energy slamming into your home. Practically speaking, this blast of energy could come from a car crashing into your front door if the driver misses the stop sign.

The chances of a car careening into your living room is remote, I admit. However, negative side effects of noise, shining headlights, and car exhaust are real. A house sitting at the T-junction and/or Y-junction would experience these negative Chi factors more than a house that sits away from the T.

So what can be done about this bad Feng Shui house location?

First, if you have not bought the ill placed house yet…don’t. Even if it seems like a bargain now, you will experience negative Chi while living there and you will not be able to sell it for a good price later. If you are living in such a house now, try relocating your front door. If that is not feasible, plant hedges, shrubs and/or trees in front of the door. These plants can block and absorb the negative Chi that can come fast towards the T. You can also construct a fence to border your front yard. Solid fences are better than chain link or picket fences.

One other type of defense against negative energy is to use a Feng Shui mirror. This is also called a Ba-Gua mirror. You can hang these octagonal shaped mirror in front of your home.

* In the year of the Tiger you will find a generally troublesome influence coming from the Southwest direction bringing with it difficulties and obstacles. If this part of your home or business is very active such as an entrance, family room or living area and even the master bedroom, then this energy needs to be dealt with by placing an all metal wind chime or metal prayer bell in this area – particularly during the month of May.

* Good health is always given a top priority, for without your health and vitality it is difficult to maintain harmonious relationships and a vibrant career. In 2010 the Northeast resonates with the force of sickness. This is also particularly strong during the month of May. Therefore you will require a string of six metal coins to be placed in this area, and this is particularly important if your bedroom, kitchen, main door or a major thoroughfare is located in that sector. Alternatively you can place the Wu Lu also known as the Calabash in this area.

* Another destructive and scandalous influence is arriving from the Southeast. Hence, it is best to place three or four bamboo stems (those that grow in water only) in a clear glass vase within the Southeast sector of your home. It is best if you don’t introduce stones and pebbles into the vase of this particular feng shui cure.

* The energy of arguments is located in the South during the coming year and so it could be valuable to place a red object or the more traditional option of red paper in this area to help minimize this negative influence.

* Finally, do not sit with your back against the North, especially whilst you are working. It is also not advisable to carry out large-scale construction work on established homes in the Northeast for the coming year. Place the Dragon Tortoise to face the Northeast direction as a symbolic measure of protection against the Grand Duke during 2010.

I hope you all stay well and happy throughout the year and that the above Feng Shui cures implemented during the year of the Golden Tiger will allow your plans to unfold smoothly and successfully.

To discover authentic Feng Shui Cures from renowned Feng Shui expert and author, Juliana Abram, visit http://www.fengshuicures.org

Have you ever been into a house that felt so peaceful and serene? Have you ever wondered why at times everything ran so smoothly as if an unseen hand is moving obstacles away from you? It is not just luck that most people would say it is. All these are due to good feng shui.

Feng shui is energy or “chi” and is an ancient art of placement of energy to improve harmony, health, longevity, wealth, career, etc. In fact, almost everything revolves around energy. Nowadays, feng shui is practiced by people worldwide.

Here are 10 good feng shui basic tips that you can easily practice to bring harmony and stability to your home:

Do not enter your home with your shoes on. Shoes are considered to have bad “chi” (energy).

Shoes are not to be openly placed at the main door of your house. Keep them in a shoe cupboard with its door closed.

Do not sleep next to the toilet wall.

Keep your bathroom and toilet doors closed and keep the toilet lid down.

Do not sleep with your feet facing the bedroom door. This stemmed from the practice of taking dead bodies out of a room with the feet first. Live people should be taken out with the head first.

Do not occupy or buy a house which faces the sharp edge of the roof of a house. The sharp edge represents a knife pointing towards you and your home, denoting unrest and instability.

Feng shui baguas are placed outside your house to ward off evils and bad “chi’. They should never be placed inside the house as the effects could be devastating to those in the house.

Keep your knives out of sight. This also serves as a security measure

Have a meal together with your family at home at least once a day. This symbolizes harmony in the family and home.

Windows, whenever practical, should be opened for at least twenty minutes daily to allow energy to flow into the house.

Practice the above basic info and you will notice how your life will change for the better.

Ken Soh has been practicing feng shui for many years.

Do you wonder what is Feng Shui? The Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway) has been in existence for thousands of years and focuses on achieving harmony, balance, and exuding a positive flow of energy known as chi. The basic principle of this ancient art form is that the environment in which you surround yourself in will have a direct impact on every possible area of your life. Also called the art of placement or positioning, Feng Shui relies heavily upon the five main elements within our environment, which are water, fire, earth, wood and metal, along with the four directions, north, south, east and west.

The placement or positioning of objects in a room dictates more than just how it might look, or how well the pieces may or may not match the others. Chi and the main concept of the art form recognizes that those five vital elements greatly affect balance and the delicate flow of chi with their continually changing levels of energy.

Each of the elements may interact with each other, either negatively or positively, and each room in the home should have the correct balance of anywhere from three, to all five of the elements. Using your own personality and lifestyle as a general guideline, you can gauge the correct combination of elements that will balance your living space once you learn and understand the purpose and meaning behind each one.

The Five Feng Shui Elements

Water: Water has the capability of being both calming and peaceful as in still waters or in a gently flowing stream, or it can be violent and destructive in the case of flooding. Water elements throughout the home renews the flow of chi and is said to rejuvenate both the spirit and body.

Fire: The ever powerful element of fire explodes with enthusiasm and sparks an endless flow of creativity wherever it is. Fire need not be used in abundance, as is the case with other elements, as too much may overpower and remove chi from a room rather than enhancing or increasing it.

Earth: Earth represents a strong foundation, rational thinking, and a sense of stability. However, too much of this particular element may also smother the flow of energy, ultimately counteracting its original, positive effects.

Wood: Wood symbolizes personal development, creativity, and exudes an independent aura of quiet, but strong, unwavering energy. Wood is used to represent the most determined individual who make it his purpose to benefit from this natural element’s chi.

Metal: For wisdom and mental strength and maturity, look to the element of metal which also represents wealth and prosperity when displayed in the home.

To begin implementing the tenets of this highly revered philosophy into your own life, you should:

- Familiarize yourself with your own soul, your inner self, and who you really are deep inside when you are completely alone with your thoughts.

- Focus intently on putting yourself in control of your life and the direction it will take as opposed to allowing negativity to influence the path you ultimately follow.

- Train yourself to visualize the flow of chi that radiates from every part of your body, permeating the air and affecting everyone near you, sharing your positive energy and harmonious thoughts with all.

- Fully open your mind and soul to receive a regular return of positive energy from your surroundings.

Put together, you will have a better idea of what is feng shui and as such will be in a better position to appreciate it.
